Ron Jaworski Golf Acquires Back Creek Golf Club

Middletown, DE course becomes 8th golf course under the Jaworski Golf umbrella.  

Ron Jaworski Golf (RJG), and partners Joe Flacco and GF Hotels and Resorts have acquired the highly acclaimed Back Creek Golf Club in Middletown, DE.  Back Creek joins seven other courses owned and operated by Ron Jaworski Golf (RJG). They include Blue Heron Pines Golf Club in Galloway Township, NJ, Downingtown Country Club in Downingtown, PA, Honey Run Golf Club in York, PA, Ramblewood Country Club in Mt. Laurel, NJ, RiverWinds Golf & Tennis Club in West Deptford, NJ, Running Deer Golf Club in Pittsgrove, NJ, and Valleybrook Country Club in Blackwood, NJ.

Back Creek was designed by golf architects Allen Liddicoat and David Horne and opened in 1997. The par 71 layout measures 7,113 yards from the championship tee markers. It has a slope rating of 134 and a course rating of 74.4. Among its many accolades, Back Creek GC, named among Golfweek’s “Best In State” and Golf Magazine’s “Best Public Courses.” Back Creek has also been ranked as one of Golfweek’s “Top 100 Modern Courses” and Golf Travel Magazine’s “Top 40 Public Courses in the U.S.”

The number of women teeing it up on the golf course is at an all-time high, and today, June 7th,  we celebrate this milestone along with others across the globe, for Women’s Golf Day (WGD).

The number of women golfers increased to almost 6.2 million in 2021. This comes after a net rise of 450,000 women golfers in 2020 pushed the on-course participant base over 6 million for the first time since 2007. WGD, a global movement that engages, empowers, and supports females through golf, embraces this surge at its annual one-day sporting and community celebration.  WGD creates a network to support the continuation of golf no matter what skill level or interest, while engaging women in an empowering initiative with global impact from a local level.

The game of golf, like every other sport, has evolved over the years while adapting to the current trends and requirements.

The pandemic saw more women taking up golf than ever before, and  According to NGF, the number of female golfers increased by 450,000 in 2020 to 6 million female golfers, and increased again in 2021 by 200,000 to a total of 6.2 million female golfers. This year, it is expected to continue to rise and predicted to be the best year for women’s golf.  To start, the LPGA has more events scheduled ever in the history of women’s golf. The net prize fund from these 34 events comes to a total of $87.5 million, which is again the highest ever in history.

This is great news for the future of golf as it means that golf is diversifying gender demographics and is becoming a more inclusive sport that can be enjoyed by many.

]]> One of the greatest challenges facing the golf industry is providing fair, equitable, and enjoyable golf experience for players of all ages and abilities. Imagine the enjoyment of a junior learning the game on a much shorter course and being able to reach par-4 holes in two shots; or the thrill of a senior player making pars and birdies after being on the brink of giving up the game because the course was too long.  At Ron Jaworski Golf, we continually look towards ‘moving forward’ and being a leader in the golf industry.

Recently, Ramblewood Country Club, one of six Ron Jaworski Golf Signature Courses, underwent a renovation to its tee boxes in order to achieve just that.  In the interest of recapturing all golfers alike; core golfers, occasional players and even beginners, our team made significant improvements by adding several new forward tees, as well as resurfacing existing tee boxes.

The new tees will allow golfers with slower swing speeds have the opportunity to reach greens in regulation and can hit a variety of clubs on their approach shots. With proper placement, those golfing from the new forward tees can experience a round of golf that provides a fair challenge and plenty of fun too.

Ramblewood offers five sets of tees, designed to accommodate everyone from novices to highly skilled players.  Tyler Vincent, PGA Director of Golf recommends the following tees based on player’s average driving distance:
Blue: 280 yards or more
White: 225 – 275 yards
Gold: 200 – 225 yards
Red: 200 yards or less

Downingtown Country Club is here to offer junior golf camps. Running in the summer from 8 AM – 12 PM, our days consist of short game work, time on the course, golf etiquette, and more. Also, participants will receive gear including a junior golf hat, golf balls, and a course yardage book, along with a certificate of completion as well.

In addition to Junior Camps, Downingtown Country Club also offers Women’s Clinics. Putting, short game, club work, and more will all be discussed and learned, along with course etiquette and basic rules of the game.
